Relaxing Office Space with a place for play
An office space should be a relaxed area that promotes efficiency whilst providing staff with a relaxed area to work in. A tense atmosphere may be the norm in firms that thrive in busy, stressful situations but more often than not a calm office space encourages employee concentration.
If you want your staff to enjoy being at The Office, produce a relaxed setting that allows for play as well as work. Giant companies that are currently thriving in their business sector extol the virtues of a happy workforce and how a cheery staff can help the business to succeed.
Technology firms, such as Google, MySpace and Facebook, are just a few of the big name companies that treat their staff with the respect they deserve. Employees get to experience the pleasures of gaming areas, including basketball and table tennis spaces, gain access to plenty of free foodstuffs and sit in a pleasantly designed office spot.
Employees are also encouraged to voice their opinions and help to shape the movement of their ever-expanding companies. These small but vital aspects can alter the mood of an office space significantly and as the world becomes further embedded in a global culture the practices of these American firms are beginning to move to these shores.
Owners of small and medium sized businesses in Britain have begun to take notice of the advantages of providing staff with areas where they can let off work induced steam and return to their desks feeling refreshed and revitalised.
A good lunch break or a fifteen minute coffee hiatus can de-clutter an overworked mind that’s overstuffed with deadlines and work worries. Using the creative side of the brain for a few moments a day can reenergise the other side that deals with strategy, planning and other serious endeavours.
So it seems that the American office space mentality may be coming to an office near you. Your Pall Mall office could be about to witness a change in the winds of the British office space tradition and become more employee focused and creativity centric.

Office Of Innocence: A Novel $8.69 Marshalling the vast powers of narrative and historical re-creation that he brought to his international bestseller Schindler’s List Thomas Keneally has created a moving and provocative novel about a headstrong young Catholic priest in World War II Australia. As Sydney braces itself for a Japanese invasion Father Frank Darragh finds his pastoral duties becoming increasingly challenging. How should he counsel an AWOL black American soldier who may face death for his involvement with a white woman? And what should he say to another woman the distressingly beguiling Kate Heggarty who impresses him with her virtue even as she edges toward sin? When Kate is found murdered Darragh falls under suspicion. And even if the police clear him his superiors and his own conscience may not. Office of Innocence is a book that’s impossible to put down dense with moral complexity and alive with period detail. From the Trade Paperback edition. |
